The Reveal: Art + Design Exhibit
The first weekend of October, the Art + Design exhibit at Metro Art Studios opened to reveal 7 designer vignettes — the outcomes of a unique collaborative white wall challenge including local leading interior designers and the artists of Metro Art Studios. I got the chance to share my artwork with Mary Benz of The Affect for the exhibit. She walks us through her vision for the install below.
“With this project I wanted to bring together old and new to obtain an affordable, luxury design. Pricing per piece ranged from as little as $25 up to $3,600. Often, clients are wanting a designed space within a strict budget so I love the challenge of pulling pieces from different vendors to execute the overall design.”
Mary shares more of her thought process for areas of focus, “Keeping Julia’s artwork as the focal point was also extremely important to me. Framing the painting with narrow, modern mirrors on either side created a simplistic wall for Tribal Lineage to take center stage. The custom, mid-century modern style LINZ chairs, strategically placed upon a vintage rug added a fun, livable vibe. The trunks were kind of a last minute rework from the original console table I was thinking. I loved the final look even more with the trunks, as it really brought the old and new concept together.”
